O'Neill to Host Canine Blood Drive on June 27
Another canine blood drive will be hosted by Rep. Bernie O’Neill (R-Bucks) from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, June 27, as part of a continuing effort to save the lives of dogs suffering from debilitating illnesses and injuries.
The drive will be held in the parking lot of O’Neill’s Warminster district office, located next to Perkins’ Restaurant on York Road. The operators of the drive come from the Penn Animal Blood Bank of the University Of Pennsylvania College Of Veterinary Medicine.
“We have had several of these drives that have been very successful, and I am looking forward to this one as well,” said O’Neill. “This is a wonderful opportunity to have your dog donate blood and get a free health screening at the same time, and save other dogs in the process.”
Canine volunteers should be willing donors, weigh between 55 and 150 pounds, range from ages 1 to 6 years old, be in excellent health with good temperament, and have a blood type that is DEA 1.1 negative. A simple blood test will be performed on site to test for the dog’s blood type.
O’Neill has held several other successful canine blood drives and is encouraging owners of dogs who meet the criteria to participate and register. To participate, dog owners must contact Janine Bishop in O’Neill’s district office at (215) 441-2624.
