Spring Primary Absentee Ballot Deadline Approaching, Says O'Neill
4/29/2009
Rep. Bernie O’Neill (R-Bucks) would like to remind local residents interested in voting in the May 19 primary that the deadline to apply for an absentee ballot is Tuesday, May 12.  These ballots, which are to be used only by those who cannot vote in person, must be completed and submitted to the county board of elections by Friday, May 15.

Military service members or overseas voters may apply for an absentee ballot at any time so long as the completed absentee ballots are postmarked no later than Monday, May 18.  Members of the military do not need to be registered to vote in order to request an absentee ballot.

Pennsylvania residents voting for the first time and those voting in a new precinct who would like to apply for an absentee ballot must provide identification to the county board of elections in order to receive a ballot. Such applicants may either submit a photocopy of an accepted form of identification with their application or submit identification to the board of elections before absentee ballots are counted.

Acceptable forms of photo identification include:
  • ID issued by any Commonwealth agency.
  • ID issued by the U.S. government.
  • U.S. passport.
  • U.S. Armed Forces ID.
  • PA driver’s license or ID card issued by PennDOT.
  • Student ID.
  • Employee ID.
Approved forms of non-photo identification must include the name and address of the elector and may be one of the following:
  • Voter’s identification card issued by the voter registration commission.
  • Non-photo ID issued by the Commonwealth.
  • Non-photo ID issued by the U.S. government.
  • Firearm permit.
  • Current utility bill.
  • Current bank statement.
  • Current paycheck.
  • Government check.
